The Imaginarium: Steampunk meets art
24 April 2026Swiss legend steals the show
A 1970 Monteverdi 375L won the Prix d’Honneur at this year’s Salon Privé London Concours de Vente earlier this month.
The extensively restored car, which has not seen regular road use since 1984, was selected from a field of 80 classic and modern vehicles on show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The Monteverdi took the honours based on its rarity, elegance and quality of restoration.
More than 30 classic car dealers vied for the coveted prize, while offering visitors the opportunity to buy any of the entries on display.
As is now traditional at Salon Privé London, a judging team of In-Pensioners from the Royal Hospital Chelsea awarded the Pensioners’ Trophy (to a 1949 Jaguar XK120 OTS), while a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione was presented with the People’s Choice prize.
The event brought together collectors and enthusiasts for a programme spanning hypercar displays, new debuts and the return of the Concours de Vente. Meanwhile across the venue’s lawns, visitors viewed a curated line-up of supercars and specialist builds.
Highlighting the presence of around 18,000 visitors across three days, Andrew Bagley, chairman and co-founder at Salon Privé, said: “To welcome so many guests, alongside such a high calibre of vehicles, partners and exhibitors, shows the strength of the concept in the capital.
“It is clear there is a genuine appetite for an event that brings together automotive excellence with a broader lifestyle experience, and we are excited to keep growing that in the years ahead.”
Salon Privé London will be followed by a similar event at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, from 2-6 September.
