Words: Dan Hayes

A uctioneers RM Sotheby’s has announced the line-up for its automotive sale in Munich on 25 November. Taking place at the city’s Motorworld exhibition space, the event follows in the tyre tracks of a record-breaking inaugural auction in 2022.

2010 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider with a remarkably low 344km on the clock, estimated between €250,000-€350,000

2004 AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse touring car, once piloted by Jean Alesi, estimated between €475,000-€575,000

2011 left hand drive Lexus LFA V-10 with a miserly 6,000km on the clock, estimated between €500,000-€600,000

1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing accompanied by a two-piece fitted luggage set, estimated between €1.2m-€1.5m

Among the many highlights due to go under the hammer are a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. This impressive example is accompanied by a two-piece fitted luggage set, a spare set of steel wheels and includes evidence of an older restoration. It is estimated at €1.2m- €1.5m (£1m-£1.3m).

Collectors of supercars may also be drawn to the 2011 Lexus LFA, with its V-10 engine built in the same facility where Toyota Racing constructed its Formula One powerplants. Combining left-hand drive and a white paint scheme, the vehicle has a miserly 6,000km on the clock and is due to fetch around €500,000-€600,000.

The 2010 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider should also receive plenty of interest. With a remarkably low 344km on the clock, this is one of just 500 examples to be built and is probably the only one that was delivered new to Austria. Estimate for the Alfa is €250,000-€350,000.

RM Sotheby’s Premier German Sale is at Motorworld München on 25 November 2023.
