S et in a converted distillery on the banks of the River Charente, the five-star boutique Hôtel Chais Monnet & Spa might be just the place for a spot of post-lockdown R&R.
The hotel, which overlooks the city of Cognac, re-opened its doors earlier this month prior (hopefully) to resuming full normal service in the next few weeks.
Highlights of the historic property include La Distillerie, a contemporary brasserie with a large patio for outdoor dining, plus the rooftop Bar Guinguet, with its spellbinding views over the city, and the Michelin-starred restaurant Les Foudres, which is scheduled to re-commence service in June
Meanwhile, the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool is already available as usual, as is the chance to borrow a bicycle or a classic Citroën 2CV to explore the surrounding countryside, with its rolling vineyards, quiet villages and secluded streams.
